Munich is well on its way to becoming of one of the biggest hubs for production and innovation in the electronics industry in Germany. A key player in this success story is TDK Electronics, a global leader in electronic components with a significant presence in the city. TDK Electronics houses its global headquarters alongside several business units and the headquarters of TDK Europe, the company’s European sales arm. This central hub employs a diverse workforce of around 400 people, representing nearly 30 nationalities, across two locations encompassing over 13,500 square meters.
Munich serves as a launch pad for four of TDK Electronics’ core business groups: Aluminum & Film Capacitors, Magnetics, Piezo & Protection Devices, and MEMS. The Aluminum & Film Capacitors group boasts a global manufacturing network with eight production sites, while the Munich team focuses on product marketing, development, quality management, and logistics. Similarly, the Magnetics business group manages its global inductor business from Munich, with a team of roughly 70 employees handling development and product marketing. This group is further supported by five production sites across several countries. The Piezo & Protection Devices group benefits from a Munich-based product marketing team specializing in PTC thermistors, multilayer devices, and piezo devices. Munich also plays a crucial role in the MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) business group, even though it's headquartered in the USA. Here, the development of microphone housings takes place alongside testing and product integration efforts.
TDK Europe, the sole European sales company for TDK Group’s electronic components, modules, and systems, is also headquartered in Munich. Its strategic location allows for close collaboration with European customers, which ensures that TDK can deliver customized solutions that meet their specific needs. With a team of approximately 390 employees and a network of 17 sales offices across Europe, TDK Europe is well-positioned to support customers throughout the continent.
