Upcoming Trade Shows Munich, Germany for Micro & Nano Technologies

productronica 2025, Munich, Germany
18 - 21 Nov 2025
In order to understand Munich’s entire role in fostering the micro and nanotechnology industry, we have to take a look at its home region, Bavaria. The region has long placed emphasis on research, education, and sharing knowledge between academia and the private sector. Bavaria invests heavily in educating the next generation of nanotechnology experts. The region boasts a comprehensive network of universities and institutes offering specialized programs, including the master's degree course in New Materials/Nano and Production Technology at Nuremberg Institute of Technology and the Nanoscience program at the University of Regensburg. As of writing this article, the region surpasses any other German state in providing access to cutting-edge education in this field with 14 nanotechnology courses. This foundation is then further enriched by initiatives like the Nano School Competition, organized by Nanonetz Bavaria e.V., which introduces schoolchildren to the fascinating world of nanotechnology.
Bavaria fosters a vibrant research environment, supporting numerous projects through government funding and collaborations with leading research institutions. For instance, players in Bavaria frequently collaborate with organisations like the German Research Foundation (DFG), Helmholtz Centres (HGF), and the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft (FhG). Nearly one-third of all Fraunhofer institutes are active in the Nanotechnology Alliance and contribute expertise in a wide manner of diverse areas like nano-optics/electronics, modeling/simulation, and security.
The Nanotechnology Cluster, spearheaded by Nanoinitiative Bavaria, plays a crucial role in supporting the growth of the micro and nanotechnology industry in Munich. The cluster facilitates networking opportunities between research institutions, policymakers, and industry leaders, which leads to further collaboration and innovation. The cluster actively supports R&D projects, assists companies in securing funding, and provides comprehensive project management services. Furthermore, initiatives like HighTechComm, a joint project with the Munich Biotech Cluster m4, enhance the communication and market access capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises.
